Our challenge was a plan where the group leaders provided menu options (you got to choose and modify as you wanted) then they encouraged the shorter range of eating (6 or 8 hours as opposed to eating all day long). I have to admit with my hours it's hard when I'm awake so much to not want to eat constantly but I do feel like it did teach me that I'm really not hungry a lot of the time. We weighed in weekly and of course discuss any hang ups anyone is having. I'm sure a lot of individual questions pertained to more than just that person. It was a very supportive group!! Not full of negativity at all. Woohoo! I've met some of the neatest people along my journey.

Yes, I know tracking really works well especially when tweaking is necessary. I think if I stop losing I will definitely have to do that. I have told myself to "just do it" when it is time. My goal is to get working out on some weights at the same time to get some muscle going on (burns calories like crazy - Yay!) I also joined a workout challenge. This one is focusing on the lower body. I'm getting really excited to feel good about myself come summer time. Finally!! Lol

I am like you. I will use my clothing as my guide. I just ordered new pants both dress and casual and I'm getting rid of the bigger ones!!I can't say I'm not nervous about it but I know I can do this and maintain it. And as much as I hate the scale I know it is a good indicator of where we are. I swear during the challenge I weighed every day for one week just to see any trends and my weight went down slightly every day except our official weigh in day. What's up with that???

What is your daily plan to meet your goal,( if you don't mind sharing)?

That sounds like a great challenge, Fitkat. Support is so important to success. I've learned so much over the years from the great people on these boards.

My plan is going back to the keto basics: for me that's 20g carbs, 75-100 grams protein (staying on the lower end if possible), and fat to satiety. No snacking or eating after dinner. This morning I was back to the weight I left here at in 2013, 144.8. The plan seems to be working so far.

I have a training plan that I'm following to prepare for my certification. It's two days on and 1 day off until next Monday. After that it's just walking and low intensity movement until the cert starts on Saturday 2/18.

I'm trying to put together my food for while I'm at the certification. I'm going to pack some snacks even though I don't usually snack. I'll make it a game time decision about whether I need more food than my regular eating plan. The last certification was the most physically challenging thing that I've ever done. I don't want to be unprepared! But I also want to stay in ketosis so that I can use body fat for fuel. So not too much protein or carbs.

The scale is cruel! But at least you had the history to know that you had charted a lower weight than the official weigh-in day weight.

The physical challenge sounds perfect! Summer will be here before you know it, and you're going to feel and look great.

And congrats on the new pants. My work pants are hanging off me right now. I'm going to wait and see what size I'm at when I'm 140 before I buy anything new. So it's skirts and dresses until I hit goal.

How is everyone doing? I think I'm getting fat adapted! My past few workouts I haven't "bonked" like I normally do. I forgot how great it is to be fueling on fat when you're working out hard.

I ordered some keto bars to eat during the cert and they arrived yesterday. I still haven't tried them. My other snacks may be Chomp sticks and then maybe cheese? The Chomp sticks may be too high in protein. I am going to try not to get kicked out of ketosis during the cert so that my energy will stay steady.

I took my Kindle with my Art and Science of Low Carb Performance and Living to work yesterday and I accidentally left my Kindle there. I am itching to re-read these books and make sure I'm doing everything correctly. Only one week to the cert!

Have a marvelous day everyone!

Hello Kristn! Good to see you posting again.

This sub forum has become quite inactive. I am thinking that most people are understanding n.k. and are posting in the main forum. However, I pop by every week or so and see if there is anything new in the world of n.k..

In the past year I have moved to using I.F. as a means for weight control (along with n.k.). It has only been moderately successful. Always working the program though.

Hi Cathy! I can see that it's quiet around here. I'll check out the Main Lobby.

Nothing new for me in NK, just going back to the basics that worked so well for me a few years ago. It's hard to stay fat adapted and live in the real world. I wish I could hold onto my lowest weight without the scale creeping up. It seems to be the way of things and I am grateful that I don't seem to gain too much before I start getting serious.

This is what I was wondering... Once I reach my goal how do I eat and do I continue with the IF? So much to consider, I suppose! Some of the basic foods are so darn good. I like simple recipes vs complex ones.

Good luck on the certification! How long is your day while you're going through the process? It's a good thing you're going on prepared!

I have some schedule changes coming up soon but they should actually give me MORE time, thankfully. I've been running so short on taking care of myself 100% so now it's my time.

Yes, summer is coming... like it or not. And this year I want to like it!!

I prefer simple recipes myself. I used to love to cook, but these days if the ingredient list is too long I just pass it by. We grill a lot.

The certification is two full days. We are tested on our level I skills the first day, then we learn/work on the level II skills along with training and then we're tested on the new skills at the end of the second day.

The level I certification was three days and it was the hardest physical challenge I've experienced. After the first day I was so sore and tired I couldn't believe I showed up for the second day. The level II should be more manageable, I'm not worried about the strength part, just perfecting the more complex skills and the volume of training. I'm hoping that being keto-adapted will help me with my endurance and recovery.

Yay for more time! Taking time for yourself is so important.

I'm excited for summer. I love sun and warmth and it's just too dark, cold, and rainy for me right now.

I agree on the too cold part! Or at least that's how our winter started. Lately we've had some lovely spring weather, though, and I'm LOVING it!!

Wow - two whole days for your certification! That's intense!! But how great for you. I'll have to work toward something like that some day.

I'll definitely take my extra time to work on some of my fitness goals. There's a gym not far from my house that one of my friends recommended and I thought that would be a good activity. It'll keep me out of trouble.

I shared this WOE with my sister the other day and told her of my great success when nothing else was working well for me. I must say the support system that I have now has made a difference for me. Having the right people cheering you on is instrumental!! I'm super excited about where I can go from this point. I eliminated that "I'll never be at that low of a weight again" type of thinking. My next challenge doesn't start right away and I have no desire to just eat whatever I want until then. (Again, positive influences in my life now...) I figured even if I'm not being super strict I can still drop a few lbs before the challenge. Woohoo! Why not?!?

Hi Cathy, I'm doing great! I finely broke my stall. Lost a good 9 lbs. I've been eating Lchf and just did my first 24 hr. Fast. Been read dr. Fung's "guide to fasting." Feeling great!

That is fabulous Dihawk!! I do OMAD fairly regularly but have not been able to lose - again. I recently heard that doing OMAD 'too much' is the same as restricting calories and that it will backfire so I have been doing keto with OMAD interspersed every few days. Hoping this works. In the meantime, I feel great too!

I am just back from my certification weekend. I stuck to my eating plan, but ate a lot more than I usually do. I expect to see a gain on the scale tomorrow.

The scale was cruel this morning. 146.6

I knew that I would gain, I just didn't think it would be 3.6 pounds!!

I ate some keto bars as snacks during the two certification days. And my protein intake was huge over the weekend.

I'm back to my normal eating today and will be back to my normal workouts on Thursday. I hope to be back down to 143 by next week and then on to 140!

I missed one lift in my certification so I need to retest. I am hopeful that I can get it done this weekend.

I hit a new low today--142.8! All the gain from the certification weekend seems to have disappeared.

No more keto bars for me. Anything that tastes remotely like a candy bar sets off huge cravings and I really have a hard time holding myself back. I was using those to help get me through the cert and I'm sure they contributed to the gain.

I also realized that the electrolytes I am using have 3 carbs per serving! I was chugging those at the cert. I have ordered the 0 carb type.

Whoah! I'm down another 1.6 pounds this morning to 141.2. I'm so close to my new goal I can taste it!

I have to say, I love NK. When I work the plan it really does work for me where Atkins only got me so far before I stalled out.

That is amazing Kristn! Would you say that having gone off plan for a time has helped?

Maybe? I think that a couple of things contributed to both my gain and then whoosh. I don't think I actually gained 3 pounds, I probably lost weight over the weekend but it wasn't showing up on the scale. The combination of stress, eating more than usual, and working my muscles so hard that they were sore for 3 days was probably the culprit. As soon as my muscle soreness started abating my weight went down pretty dramatically (for me).

I realize that I was pretty stressed out in the weeks before the cert. My work was pretty intense at that time and the added training was a lot for me. My weight rose slowly last week and then over the weekend. Going back to my regular routine and my work stress decreasing were huge this week.

Whatever it was, I'll take it!

I agree that all those things would contribute to a scale gain. I thought you had gone off keto for a time and was wondering if that was the contributing factor in a longer term aspect?

I wasn't keto, but still low carb (I am LC for life). I had a few off days over the past year, but mostly just eating too much LC food and the scale crept up.
