Sorry for super busy. Made time for the gym but my posting dwindled. No worries on track over here. Havent fallen off just busy. Bruising from my fall are almost gone and aches and pains are gone.

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I'll be splurging this weekend which is probably poor timing due to my next weigh in being next Wednesday. But it's my birthday and one meal shouldn't be too terrible and I'll add in an extra workout this week.

Good morning all,

I made it home safe and sound....the trip home was MUCH LESS eventful than the trip out there!

Jeanne, We both have to get back into ketosis....but we can do this!! We've done it before, we can do it again!!

Jan, I'm totally going to have to look for that Oxy-Powder....I'm glad you're feeling better!

Going2, I had the same darn experience with the added carbs "regulating" things....it was pretty rough though.....definitely going to have to find better options, like that oxy-powder!

Carol, I'm sorry your DH isn't very supportive of your WOE....that certainly makes it harder. My hubby doesn't eat LC with me, though he admits he should do a better job of that....but he's VERY supportive of my choices and doesn't try to sway me.....I'm glad you're here with like minded folks who WILL support you, it does make a difference!!

Kal, Happy birthday!! You're right, one meal shouldn't hurt to much....especially if it doesn't trigger any cravings and if you add an extra workout in there....I'm very impressed with your workout schedule!

Ok folks, time to kick Monday into gear and get with it....have a GREAT day!

I usually take Miralax- and lately daily--but I have heard that it isn't good for a person--it does work well though but isn't cheap--I do get the Sam's club version of Miralax so that helps a little--but I too will be looking into the oxy-powder.

it sure helps here when everyone shares ideas and products and their struggles--we are not alone!

Hello Friends,

No weigh in for me. Did a fair bit of damage over the weekend so I decided not to face the I already know that my weight will be up and I know why, so I just need to get over it and move forward!

Wanted to add my 2 cents to the current conversation........ Benefiber! I add a teaspoon of Benefiber to my morning coffee and don't have any problems. It's tasteless and dissolves in hot or cold foods ( my mother put it in yogurt or oatmeal). Not a lax, no explosions. It's inulin fiber, safe to take every day and it doesn't get thick and yucky like Metamucil. It does have carbs but the fiber discounts the carbs. It's the one item where I track net carbs!

At one time, I also took 200 mg of Magnesium Bisglycinate before bed but I haven't needed to use it lately.

I have work to do so I best get at it. Wishing you all a wonderful week.

Onward and downward!

I was given Colace stool softener in the hospital after surgery and have used it occasionally at home, but normally I don't have a problem. I guess the veggies I eat take care of that!

I'm with you, Crazy! What we don't know won't hurt us! LOL

WHEW I made it to wk 3 weigh in day !!!!

This has been a crazy week for me. Told y'all that my laptop would not install my FD dvd...well I am now the owner of a new laptop with ****** installed to help me with my nutrition count and a new printer. This weekend has been like Christmas all over again. I have been eating nonstop everything and anything since my laptop gave up the ghost. Like they say I'm a grown a## woman so why can I not act like one - eat right and take care of myself instead of taking any reason to bottom out. Starting over today ... One day at a time @ 244.5.

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend. I have been doing better w/my eating but then TOM happened, so tonight I had a small piece of pie. Oh well, I feel good about everything so I'm OK w/my piece of pie. I do think I am going to get back to intermittent fasting though, I really think it helped.

So much has happened here I'm not going to try to respond to everything but do want to offer my support and encouragement to you all. Hope everyone has a great week!

Good morning!

Back to work today. I feel about 90% well. Right now I am keeping carbs under 60 a day. I used my Christmas money to buy a Vitamix blender and have been making a daily drink of tomatoes, carrots, sweet peppers, lettuce/arugula. It has carbs but only about 8 after subtracting the fiber.

Yesterday I bought an Amy’s Rice Crust gluten free pizza, added some cheese and a little pepperoni. I calculated the total calories/carbs and divided into 4 servings. I love playing around in the kitchen to figure out lower carb, gluten free versions of my favorite foods.

For my other meal and snack I am sticking to very low carb--meat, eggs.

Good Morning Happy Hump Day...
Birthday Ladies....the week is yours, enjoy
It is cool here in the desert brrrr. They are saying Flagstaff has 8 ft of snow today....that is right ARIZONA
I still don't know what I am doing with my food plan. I want to do the induction 3 wks but I have been so bad for so long/years I really don't know if I have it in me, so I am taking it slow and trying to do the lowest carb count I can and weed out the starchy things.
I am inspired by the goals you all have made to get to where you are at. I know you struggle also...but the commitment that everyone has is inspiring to me.

Have a Blessed and low carb day.

Unfortunately, I did not reach Onederland for my birthday, due to my day of indiscretion that just won't let go. But it was my determination to do so that got me to 202, and that's 5 lbs below 207, where I started. So I am trying not to be too disappointed and just moving forward. Onederland by Feb 1.

In my effort to stay low carb, I bought some low carb tortillas to try for my quisadillas that I love. What a surprise! They are not actually low carb, but are really high fiber! The quisadilla was delicious, but my stomach rumbled like a valcano, and I was unable to leave the house for the rest of the day. LOL I'm not giving up completely. I will make a half from now on, folding one over, instead of using 2. If that doesn't work, out they go, and I will have to have my quisadilla only occasionally, full carb, as a treat.

I know you are not supposed to reward your loss with food, but back when I was working, the girls always got pizza on Friday. I made a rule for myself...I was only allowed to join them for pizza for every 5 lb loss. It worked for me, and was something to look forward to. I could do the same with my quisadilla.

Welcome User! Jump right in and tell us more about yourself.

Betsie, I'm wondering if my lack of interest in sweets is due to TOM going away forever and taking my sweet tooth with him. I do remember enjoying them back then. It's nice to have him go away, but you have to remember that he gets replaced by old age, wrinkles, aches and pains, etc. Which is worse?

Norma, I have family in the Phoenix area. I have always said I could never handle the heat in the summer. What is Flagstaff like in the summer? Do they get the high temps that they get further south?

Maybe a shorter induction period would work. Even Dr Atkins allowed for adding carbs til you reach your high point. I am usually good up to 75 gm per day.

Glad you are feeling better, Jan. I spent Sunday with my daughter-in-law and the next two days she was sick in bed with a bad cold. I have my fingers crossed that my immune system is up to par.

Jeanne, Crazy, Going2, Kal. Hope everyone has a DOWN day!

Good morning all!!

Welcome User, the more the merrier!!

Goodness, so many birthdays this week....I hope you all have a WONDERFUL birthday....and don't go to crazy with the birthday cake!!

Norma Jean, I am SO OVER this winter weather here.....Flagstaff has been BURIED in blizzard conditions and even the Sedona foothills down here are white! I really hate cold weather, after 15 years in Colorado I could go a very long time without snow. Oh well, spring is coming right?!?!?

Carol, I hope you stay healthy....yes the crud has been going around, DH and DS both have bronchitis and DDIL, DGD, and I are doing our best to NOT get it!

Well kids, I'm still on track, back in ketosis and have shed most all of the few pounds I picked up last week on my trip....so onward and downward we go!!!

Morning Carol
Take the 5 # loss and run with it, losing more on the way to Feb 1
Phoenix is hot like us but Flagstaff/Williams any thing up north is very pleasant. It is so funny about the state it's like 3 in one when it comes to climate. Here we have cactus and almost no humidity, grass or trees.
Above Phoenix towards the north they have Pine trees, snow/ice and greenery. When we take visitors to the Grand Canyon we stay at Williams and it reminds me of Tennessee, trees, green and cooler. Flagstaff is a big ski resort town. Mostly its the high altitude we have the same thing outside of Tucson on Mt Lemon with all the snow and ice. Talk about a shocker when we first started visiting AZ and ran into signs that said Ski Lifts ahead...we had no clue. That is why we settled in the desert we moved to get away from the nasty weather. But like they say it is a dry heat very little humidity and it is nothing like the same temps out east.
Your quisadillas sound wonderful. I'm so glad to be able to get back on-line and now I do have my F-D to help me and I am feeling more confident.

HI Tammy
So glad to hear about you being back on track and in ketosis. DH has had the crud for a month now and refuses to go to the doctor so he may have it till spring. Yes Spring is coming for us it will be here in about another month.
We got rain over the weekend that is our winter mess but we are so spoiled to the warmer weather that in the lower 50's we are freezing and look at the snow birds with their shorts and tank tops and think it must be really cold where they come from. White legs with socks/sandals too cute.

Here I am.... crawling in on my belly..... Can I join late??? I join and give up on so many.... I almost don't even want to try....but.... never give up.....so here I am. I have a Reverse Raffle on April 1 and would love to at least lose the BLOAT by then I am not hopeless..... When I really try I lose weight..... it is just getting my big butt off the ground and out of my comfort zone. I am way to old to still be doing this..... April 9 I will be 64.. Yep... scares the crap out of me. A friend who is in MUCH better shape than I am and only 45 had a heart attack last week and is going for a quadrupple bypass tomorrow morning........ can you say.....real scary being my age and what I am .....

Enough of my whoa is me...... from here forward I try harder. Guess mine would be more of a 10 week challenge.... thats fine for now.

Come on in. I started with the rest of the Gals from day one and this week I had to start all over again from scratch . Keep on keeping on is all we can do with one day at a time.
Sorry to hear about your friend. It is so scary when our friends and loved ones have something tragic happen to them.
You can do this, you are on the right track.

Hi everyone. The rain finally stopped here, the temps wormed a bit but now we are about to get some cooler temps again. Strange thing happened today...this morning I weighed in at 138, this evening I weighed in at 135! I had to get my glasses and weigh again because I thought I was not seeing the numbers right. I'm not complaining .

Carol- I think TOM leaving and taking my sweet tooth would be a good thing! % is still a good number, I think you can get to onederland by Feb.

Sweet Poison- Welcome. That is scary about your friend having a heart attack and quadruple bypass surgery, wow. Hope all goes well for her.

Tammie- Great job on getting back into ketosis. My DH said he can tell when I am in ketosis, unfortunately he can smell it . But, it works so until I don't need it I guess I'll just have to stink, lol.

Hope everyone has a great rest of the week.

User and SweetPoison--c'mon in and join us for some wintertime support as we await spring!

Looks like there are plenty of solutions for "moving things along" to those of us knuckling down on LC eating! I'm also adding flaxseed meal to my LC yogurt or stirring it into a protein shake.

Jan - Heard great things about Vitamixers, that is so healthy to make it yourself without added preservatives or processing.

Norma Jean - As we all know, YMMMV when it comes to WL plans, so do what works for you. Taking it slow helps make it stick, becomes more of a lifestyle. DH and I are considering AZ for retirement, so it's interesting to hear you and Tammy talking about its weather.

Carol - Sounds like Onederland's just around the corner for you! Kinda cute story there on the high fiber tortillas, at least you don't need help "moving things along" with them! Think a "food reward" can be a good idea, know lots of plans that build in cheat days too.

Tammy - Yay to being in ketosis and great on dropping your trip weight! Sorry to hear there's crud going around your family, hope you can dodge it.

BetsieLou- You must be doing the happy dance on that nice WL jump!

Still trying to pull it back together here. Man, do I regret getting cocky after the first week with that great WL and exercising--that'll teach me! Like I haven't learned by now, sigh. Have been using the excuse that my routine's been off and am tired of it. Plus, I found a job opportunity and when I looked up the staff list online it had pix and everyone looked under 50 and trim, so that made me feel like why bother. Yes, some negative-Nelly going on here, but thanks to a sunny and balmy day yesterday, am feeling in better spirits and feel more up. Each day is a new beginning, you know.

There's still lots of time left in this challenge to get our groove going as we pursue our WL goals--we can do this--hang in there!

Janilyn, I'll be right there with you with having smoothies and stuff soon. January was getting rid of all processed foods including any grains or dairy.

For February, I am going to attempt 3 days a week having a healthy smoothie/juice day. Get my greens in more and try to keep the carbs down. 3 days a week are going to be regular low carb and 1 day will be low carb with a cheat meal at dinner. Adding 30 mins of cardio to each day I visit the gym. Trying to break my mentality with food. Food is just to fuel my body not for comfort or boredom or even habit.

Have the gym tonight so going to push hard as always. April isn't as far out as it seems ladies so make every day count.

So this morning the scale says 133.4 . However it was short lived...turns out the scale was just off and the real number is 138.4. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, and one day it will be for real.

Those of you making smoothies would you care to share your recipes. I thought it might be fun to have one sometimes too and honestly I'm not sure where to start. Are you going to use fruit? That's not really low carb, but fruit seems to be the basis of most smoothies.

User.

Have a great day ladies.

betsie, I'm still trying to figure mine out. I want as low net carb as I can but still have it be tasty. I know I'll have Greek yogurt. Damon has light and fit Greek in many flavors. Those are about 8g carbs but about 80 calories and 12g protein. Add in some unsweetened almond milk at less than 1g carb for 8 ounces. Also read about people getting plain Greek yogurt and adding sugar free jello mix/pudding. Not sure if I'll try it. But yeah if i decide to use real fruit id go for watermelon, peaches, or strawberry which are 8- 9g carbs for 3.5 ounces. Watermelons aren't in season though.i have bags of frozen peaches that I froze because I wasn't sure when I'd use them so I can finally use those. And dont get me wrong 3.5 ounces isn't a lot but helps flavors.ill be doing trial and error next month. Trying to have 3 16- 24oz smoothies. Keep net carbs at about 20 or below per smoothie. I'll also be having my isopure zero carb protein powder in my arsenal as well as halo top low carb ice cream. I have the birthday cake ice cream from halo top. Half a cup is 10g net carbs and 70 calories And 6g protein in it.i can't even eat half a cup of it because it so sweet to me and I typically don't eat a lot of sweets. Been in my freezer for awhile and usually if I want something sweet one spoonful of that kills my craving. Ill be testing out a lot of things so ill be sure to let you know. I won't try anything with PB2. Probably a good option if you like peanut butter but I'm allergic so obviously those recipes I can't help with haha.

Hello Friends,

user and SweetPoison

To all our Birthday gals! Enjoy every moment!
You do know that women are like fine wine........we get better as we age.

Been busy doing my year end..........not my idea of fun.......and I've booked a last minute trip to the Dominican Republic so I have to get my act together.

Therapy is going ok. It's a slow go but I will continue. Movement sure is a far cry from what I used to do. 3 sets of 10 reps with a 3 pound weight is really hard......doable but very hard.

Shout out to you all. Keep up the good work!

Onward and downward!
