1/12- 176.2

Good morning y'all!! I am still on plan. I am feeling great! I did my interval run this morning. I had been using some new running shoes I got for Christmas and they rubbed a sore on my toe so I am taking them back. I thought I could work through it, but no I don't think so. I really love my New Balance shoes I got last year so I'm gonna try and see if I can find another pair. I think I got them at Shoe Carnival.
When I made my espresso fat bombs I had just a smidge of coconut oil left in the jar and I didn't want to waste any of that goodness so I brewed me a cup of coffee and poured it in the jar and swished it around melting the oil I then added my cream and sweetener and to emulsify the oil I blended it in my NutriBullet (If you don't have one of these I highly recommend one. It's fantastic. I got mine at Walmart for $70.) Anyways it made the tastiest coffee. It is creamy with a hint of coconut flavor and it has a layer of foam. Yum!! I call it a Coconut Latte.
What I add to my regular coffee:
8oz. coffee (I normally use half decaf)
2 TBSP. Half and Half
1 TBSP. Almond Milk
2 Drops of Sucralose
2 pkts. Truvia

To me this makes the perfect coffee. I used to use HWC in place of the Almond Milk. I changed to AM cause it is a lot lower in carbs and it tastes just as good. Remember you can add butter and coconut oil to get your healthy fats in to help keep you satiated. It's good.
I also have a keto coffee recipe I'll share with you later. It's easy and tastes great. I only drink it every now and then. It's a cinnamon keto coffee. I love it.
Where is Gabriel and Sven? I know Gabby had a moment a few months back, but surely she knows she is still welcome here. We all have our opinions. That's what makes the world interesting, and it's not like Sven to miss too many days posting. Where are ya peeps? Judy?
Have a great Tuesday everyone!!!

That's okay Bloodhound. You've done real well this month. Don't let it get you down. Just strive to do better today and press on. Are you sure you are getting enough fat. Taking in good fats help to keep you satiated to where you have no cravings and a low appetite.

Hello, my friends. I am SO glad to be back even though I won't be weighing until next week.

I had BPPV (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo – right side). This happened to me once about 10 years ago, but not since.

We have crystals attached in tubes in our inner ears that keep our balance right. When the crystals break loose and float around, our brain can’t tell if we are right side up, upside down, or whatever. It makes you like you are FALLING DOWN DRUNK….

It started around midnight last Friday. I had to get up in the night to go to the bathroom and I was literally bouncing off the walls. It was HORRIBLE. I’m lucky I was able to keep from falling down. Why do things always happen in the middle of the night? Anyway, I called my daughter, Peg, Saturday morning. She and her hubby took me to the emergency room. Had to go to another hospital’s ER because I couldn’t be seen by an ENT doc until Monday at the first one. I’ll never go back to that one again. Spent most of the day at the second one. An ENT doctor did what they call the Epley Maneuver. I guess that puts the crystals back where they belong if it works.

Anyway, that helped a LOT. Went home and my daughter, Sheri, stayed with me Saturday night, all day Sunday, Sunday night, and all day Monday. She worked “from home” on Monday (at my place).

Yesterday I was MUCH better and today I seem to be OK. The doc told me to sleep in my recliner and to not lean over for the next few days so I don’t knock the crystals out of whack again. I’m sleeping in the recliner at least until Sunday…..maybe longer. I like my bed better, but the recliner DOES work and I SO don NOT want another episode.

I am being VERY careful when I change clothes and am not using the scale until next week.

Hugs, Judy

Oh Judy - That sounds rough and scary. I'm glad you are starting to feel better and so glad you have your kids there to help you out. Thanks for checking in again. Good luck doing everything necessary to heal. Sending prayers your way.

Kind - reading those 2 Atkins books will give you the best information about low-carbing along with the personal experiences of the people here. The biggest advantage to low carb for me is appetite control. When I eat more carbs (including any fruit) I'm always hungry.

It's looking like I need to get more strict to get some decent weight off before the end of the month. Time flies!

Good morning all!

My goodness Judy that's crazy!! I never knew that about the crystals in the ear.....I'm so glad you're doing better!

Tami, I make my coffee like that every morning, and I add a spoonful of butter to it....it's sooo good....and the fats really help keep me satiated all morning! I used to get these fabulous little coffee frothers at World Market, they're like $5 and battery operated, they do a GREAT job, I'd keep one at the office, one at home....I need to get new batteries for them though.

Kit, I TOTALLY made the taco shell last night with the shredded cheese and it was GREAT....although I think next time it'd be better with lowfat cheese so it gets a little crispier.....I also made cilantro/lime caulirice (like chipotle) and that was really good too....very yummy LC taco night!!

Angela, that is so cool about the exchange visitors, hopefully these teachers will be more social than the last....I would totally be asking them to teach me how to cook REAL chinese food!! I adore chinese food, but I've always been too intimidated by it to try and make it at home.

Bloodhound, at least you stuck to low carb snacks.....that was a good move!!

Well, things are trucking right along here, I ended the fast last night and had dinner with the family, eating today on plan and feel GREAT! Gotta get back to work, so have a fabulous day everyone!!

Ordered new runners yesterday, can't wait until they come. Mine are old and super uncomfortable.

It's my husbands birthday next week which means far too much celebrating this weekend. Hoping to stick to plan but cake may be eaten, we will see

Angela - Meant to say good luck with your visitors. You are brave and very generous to do that, especially again after a not so great experience. I'm way too leery of having strangers in my house. Not because I'm afraid they'd do anything bad, maybe just because I'm an introvert at heart and not too thrilled having anybody stay over. I'm weird that way. Do they typically speak English or do you speak Chinese/Mandarin?

Tammy - Glad you liked the taco shell. I think I'm going to have one for lunch too because we have leftover taco meat. Yum!

Thanks for warm welcome everyone! So glad to be back! I love seeing everyone’s recipes and food ideas. It helps so much.

Tammy- I have been good! Busy busy, but I like busy. SO glad I found you again on here. I remember doing the journey with you when you hit onderland- was so proud of you! Now we have to do it together! Hope you are good too!

Going camping this weekend with friends….motivated to stay strong and got lots of food planned that will keep me on target. My help I need from everyone is, I have done low carb before but not high fat with it. I started Monday and have been eating an avocado every day and tomorrow will start the coffee with butter and coconut oil. Any recommendations for me would be greatly appreciated 

Then DW had to go ahead and have our second child (ok, part of that was my fault) and so we had a two-year-old and a new born. Between the lack of sleep and the holidays, my diet exercise plan was torn to shreds. And bad habits returned. Once more into the breach my friends. Once more into the breach.

That's ok though, I did it before, and I'm going to do it again....only this time I'm NOT going to quit, I AM going to make it all the way to goal!! I'm so glad you're back too, we can definitely do this together!

Hi Everyone young and old. We are back in the States. Had fun, fun, fun. Time to get back at this again. My stats tell it all so won't bore you with the details.

It appears that I need this place. Cuz a little accountability is a good thing. I'll spend some time over the next couple of weeks catching up with what everyone was and is doing.

Good to see you Judy. I know what you mean. I've had vertigo like that a few times. For me it came on from allergies and a cold in my ear. My doctor said I had "rocks in my ears"
I used a trans dermal patch behind my ear. It worked okay.
First time I had it I thought I was dying! I just rolled over in bed one morning and oh wow the room spun! it was awful!

I'm glad you are okay. I hope it doesn't come back again forever!

I've been hearing a lot about Runners. At one time when I was having all this foot pain (before we knew the cause) my podiatrist sent me to a running store to get advanced shoes. They told me that shoes come in "levels" for lack of a better word. The shoes we buy in the regular stores for $50-80 are one level. Advanced runners go up an level. These shoes cost $120-300 or more! They fit you for your foot and your step. I have some New Balance from them (on sale and discounted of course!). They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had.

Tammy, my sister's MIL is Chinese and I have had some of hers. The last guests I asked to cook but they never did. So far, these two ladies seem much more social. BTW, is that your baby? So adorable!

Shannon, I think cake is one of the hardest things for me to deny but only birthday cake...the good kind. My sister's b-day party was last weekend and it was SO HARD to deny myself the cake.

Kit, I so wished I spoke Mandarin! One of the girls, Kylie, speaks English. She is an English teacher. Ming, does not. She is a Chemistry teacher. We love opening our home and hosting. We hope, once our last son is out of the house, to host a student for a semester.

Jenny, BACK!

I can't believe how I've fallen off the wagon, I don't know why and craving sweets horribly, ugh. It's great seeing all of you doing awesome and hanging in there, great job! Looks like I've gotten behind but I hope you all are doing great.

Judy oh my, sorry to hear about that, I think I would be puking, I don't to well with those things. I've also never heard about the crystal. Will be praying for your quick recovery.

Jenny back!

I did awesome yesterday. I really feel like I got my edge/mojo back. I hope I can hang on. There are no holidays coming up that really tempt me. Valentine's Day and Easter candy doesn't bother me like Thanksgiving and Christmas goodies do. I should be set for awhile.
Last night I made me some cinnamon sugar pork skins and they were very good. I have seen recipes where people make them and eat them for cereal. They say it tastes like cinnamon toast crunch. Maybe I'll try it one day.
Judy~ Wow! I'm sorry to hear about that. I'm glad your doing better. That's scary to think that that could happen. Did they say what caused the crystals to dislodge? I had a similar experience last summer. We went on a 12 hour trip to Florida and so I got some prescription motion sickness patches (the kind you place behind your ear) for us to wear down so we wouldn't get car sick. Wearing them on the way down they weren't too terrible. I was a little groggy and my mouth was dry, but for the most part I was fine. When we went home I put the patch on the night before right before I went to bed. I got up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and I about couldn't walk. I fell over against the wall. Stumbled here and there. My mouth felt like I had a mini desert in it. I couldn't sleep well. I sat up on the side of the bed and my whole body kept swaying in a circle. I have never been drunk, but I'm sure that is what it would feel like. I knew it was the patch. I was like screw this and took the thing off. It was horrible. I don't know if the dose was too much for me or if that's just how it works, or if I was allergic. It was something. Even after I took it off the next day driving it was hard to stay alert. My hubby said he felt similar. Just not as bad. The kids felt it a little bit, but they slept just about the whole trip. lol No patches for me. I'll stick with Dramamine.
Have a happy Friday the 13th.

Teresa we all fall off from time to time. It's the willingness to climb back on that makes you stronger. Learn from this fall. Adjust some things and get back into the game. We are here for you.

Are you talking about the New Balance store? I love New Balance shoes. They fit me well. We have a store that's local and from what I hear they'll video how you walk and all and tell you what you need according to how you step and it's free. I really need to do this sometime. I just have a hard time paying $100 for a pair of shoes must less $300 for some. Most of the time I wear them out in about 6 months. I rub holes on the inside of my shoes before the outside even begins to show signs of wear and tear. I haven't been able to figure why this happens to me and not others. Probably something simple.

I had a mini fast yesterday only eating a tin of sardines and having coffee and tea. I did make it to the gym. The little drop was nice, but I was hoping for a whoosh into the 220's. They're so close!

Tami...There are SO many things that can cause this that it's hard to pick one. A fall, of course....any head trauma....a REALLY bad cough, which is what I "think" caused mine this time. I had an upper-respiratory infection that lasted a little over 2 weeks with REALLY hard coughing spells, especially at night that ended just a few days (maybe a week) before this happened. One thing the ENT doc told me is to have a low-salt, low-carb diet which helps prevent it. Processed foods can be a contributor.

I am so prone to motion sickness that I always take non-drowsy-Dramamine before flying. I can get nauseated just "watching" a merry-go-round if I really keep my eyes on it. YUCK. I would LOVE to take a cruise but NO WAY. I can't imagine being stuck "at sea" for 3 days puking.

Sounds like maybe you are allergic to some ingredient in the patch.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words, concerns, and especially the prayers.
.

Good morning all,

Angela, that sweet little baby is my 9 month old granddaughter and she is an angel, let me tell ya!! I'm glad your new exchange guests are more social, that will certainly keep things less awkward!

Teresa, We all stumble, but you can do this!!! Don't give up!

Bloodhound, You're so close to the 220's....you'll get there before you know it! You've been dropping steadily, so just keep up the good work!

Terri, hang on to that MOJO....you've got this!

Tami, I'm with you....I have a hard time paying a lot of money for ANYTHING....especially athletic shoes though......I can't wear them to work, and I don't work out nearly enough (Need to change that) so the thought of paying $100 for a pair is a bit much for me!

Judy, Glad you're starting to feeling better!!

All is well here, staying on plan....kind of thought I might gain a little once I incorporated food after the fast, but thankfully that hasn't been the case. I have to go shopping this weekend to find a coat.....living in AZ for so long I don't really have a winter coat, but next week I fly to Portland for the week for a business conference and it's COLD and snowy there!!! I fly out on Tuesday and come back Saturday, so for much of the week I won't be able to weigh.....unless the Doubletree has started putting bathroom scales in their rooms. But I'll still eat on plan, and check in as much as possible.

Off to work, have a GREAT day!!

It is always so hard to get back on plan after falling off the wagon. You know those sweet cravings just feed off the sweets. One of the things that has helped me when re-starting is to eat as much of my favorite low carb foods as I want - like my favorite chicken wings from Wingstop. Have lots of low carb snacks around (low carb meatballs, devilled eggs, summer sausage, pepperjack cheese are some of my favorites) and eat those whenever you're hungry and don't eat any sweets. You will actually lose some water weight this way which is also encouraging and motivating. Also, I agree with Terri. Face the music, get on the scale and start posting your weight here each day and eventually you'll be back on track. It really does help. We've all been there and will support you 100%.
