Thanks, Slow. My legs have noticeably shrunk since I hit Florida and started playing tennis three weeks ago. I have a freaking space between my thighs when I walk or stand. That is a first in my entire life (I used to carry more weight in my legs; now it's mostly in my tummy and shoulders).

I meant tailor-style, or cross-legged, just for reference. So I'm sitting on both my heels (or at least, they're under my thighs). I passed the cross one leg over the other knee, elegant lady style position at LEAST a year ago. LOL

I hear ya. When I got to the point where I could cross my legs (as in put one knee over the other while seated in a chair) I used to do it to show off to friends. Left over right, then right over left. With style.

I had a scholarship to a school that had the tagline, "For the Daughters of Gentlemen".

We had several lessons in how ladies needed to sit and cross legs so that nothing inappropriate was revealed - that and get out of cars (ditto tho' it would have been more helpful to me to learn how to adapt this to buses). The ludicrous way we crossed legs was guaranteed to hyperextend the knee joints and was ruinous to pelvic alignment. You needed to sit not only cross-legged but with your lower-leg at approx. 45 degrees. (at least) and the outside edge of the upper-leg's foot running down the outside edge of the lower calf. (Ankle-wrecker, particularly for the foot on the ground.)

We needed to make a smooth circular motion to take the upper leg off the lower so that the knee would remain covered by the skirt and the upper-leg didn't cause the fabric to ride up or gap enough to reveal the thigh.

We probably looked like decorous models but I wonder how much knee valgus is the legacy of that nonsense.
